The life cycle of a server inData Centers with infographic


Servers don’t live that long, so what happens to them when their work is done? Check out this infographic’s numbers on data center servers and their average lifespan.

The infographic below, courtesy of Sims Recycling Solutions, illustrates the tremendous number of servers that data centers go through each year. What happens to all that hardware when it’s short lifespan is reached?

Yes you could also make a case for any of the Google Chrome-like or Splashtop OSes that can have you up and running in three to five seconds, but that was not the intent here. I wanted to focus on distributions that could be considered full desktops. And although you may not get the same results I did on your boot times, there are always plenty of tweaks to be made to further speed up your Linux desktop boot.
