Updated prices of historical consoles: this would cost today
Past, present and future, the historical consoles and the current "Fixin" go hand in hand in an article by ArsTechnica, where collected output prices that had, at the time, the different generations of consoles, ranging from the Atari 2600, which was released in 1977, to the next Xbox One and PS4.
Such prices are based on the American tax legislation update, thanks to which we can get an idea of the equivalent cost would have if they had released today. In other words, they take as a reference the starting price in its year of release and updated it with the inflation accumulated until today, resulting in their equivalence in current money.
This peculiar experiment does not reflect actual prices and their equivalents in accordance with Spanish regulations, but it is really interesting. We can see that, for example, the Atari 2600, was at its launch in 1977 priced at $200. This price equivalent today to 768 dollars, making it one of the consoles more faces of history
Along with the ranking of the consoles more expensive History graph shows that that "dubious honour" corresponds to Neo Geo, with an introductory price of $650 that would currently amount to no less than $1.111, and 3DO, one of the greatest failures of the time of the 32 bits thanks, among other things, to its outrageous price. It was the result of the union of Panasonic, Goldstar LG Electronics and Sanyo and had a starting price of $700, amounting to 1,127 dollars today.
But, and the cheapest? MegaDrive 32 X, GameCube Dreamcast, since as we see none of them exceeds 300 dollars.
